Improve Funding For Polytechnic Education, a Solution To Nigeria’s Insecurity — Rector

The Rector, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi, Dr. Sani Usman Tunga, has called on the federal and state governments to Improve funding of the Polytechnic education for national development and ensuring security.

The Rector, made the call on the occasion of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Week, Fund Raising and 9th ASUP-Birnin Kebbi National Conference held the Auditorium hall of the Polytechnic in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The theme is “Skills acquisition as a solution to current insecurity in Nigeria, the role of the Polytechnics”, the Rector advocated the use of technology in solving the security challenge in Nigeria.

Dr. Usman Tunga, challenged the perticipants to brainstom on the challenges of the country as the nation through skills acquisition and enterprenueship education.

The guest speaker, former Rector Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi and Kebbi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arc. Muhammad Sani Aliyu, identified technical, business and managerial skills as the objectives of controlling insecurity saying, enterprenueship works against insecurity.

The Kebbi State Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar, assured the state government readiness to partner with Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic to train teachers in the state.

He said, the present led Nasiru Idris administration was making effort in tackling unemployment among youth through skills acquisition in the state.
