Fact Check on Attack of Yobe Governor Mala Buni’s Convoy

The Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni’s Convoy attack recently has take the attention every security aparatus in Nigeria raising questions on how and why the attack ?

After the attack takes attention, many people raised questions that the attacks comes at a time when the governor is not in the convoy.

In what it appears to be propaganda, a terrorist organizations, the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) claimed responsible.

ISWAP said it targeted the governor of Yobe State Nigeria, with a claim of responsibility for a machine gun attack on a residence of the governor in Buni Yadi, causing guards to withdraw, then the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)’s branch in Nigeria burned his house and took 5 rifles.

But, a check of investigation by security experts refute ISWAP’s claimed.

Different experts including Zagazola Makama, a security Analyst and Counter Insurgency Expert in the Lakechad region and west Africa said the claims is untrue.

According to Makama, “the claim that Governor Mai Mala’s residence was attacked was FALSE.”

“The terrorists attacked an unoccupied residence  of one Mai Muktar of Gujba, a local traditional Chief and burnt grains in the store after the vigilante withdrew, the resident in question has nothing to do with the Yobe State Governor” said Makama.

He then went on to urged the general public to disregard the claim describing it a false and untrue.
