After repeated media and public outcry, the Kano state government has paid state Athelets Players allowances who participated in the Second Edition National Para Games 2023 in Abuja.
Acting Chairman of Kano Sport Commission Malam Bala Sani said payment is part of an agreement reached between Kano Govt and the Kano Contingent.
He said they have settled the team’s allowance, adding that the delay is as a result of exchanging the new secretary to the government.
Bala also said the Kano state government will pay Coaches, health officials and sports commission staff funds by next week.
Apart of journalists who spent the whole week covering the tournament, the crew were paid after expressing their dissatisfaction.
Aminu Ahmad T Wada, who represented all the players, while receiving their money, expressed his happiness after days of waiting for their allowances.
Recall that, the Kano supervising commissioner for youths and sports, Safiyanu Hamza Kachako, said the Kano Government will pay the allowances this month.
The Kano State Athletics team in the National Para Games 2023 in Abuja, won 18 Gold medals, 12 Silver and 17 Bronze, which made them 47 medals total at the tournament.

The Kano team emerged in 3rd position in the recent Games, while Bayelsa State emerged as Champions of the games, winning 30 gold, 24 silver and 29 bronze with 74 medals in total.
The Natioal Para Games organized by the Ministry of Sport Development, the tournament this year, were scheduled from 8 to 14 December at the Moshood Abioloa National Stadium, Abuja.
