The Kano state ministry of Environment and Climate Change has said that it will work with Kano state Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) to ensure Complaince of Monthly environmental sanitation excercise.
The state Commissioner of Environment and Climate change Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo disclosed this while briefing journalist shortly after the conclusion of Saturday’s monthly environmental sanitation held in Kano.
During the excercise, the Kano government found trycycle operators to be main Defaulters on monthly basis a situation which angered environment ministry as well as sanitation expert in the state.

“Today what we observed is no good for us, the Keke Napep riders a.k.a ‘Yan adaidaita sahu’ so many of them comes out to do their activities during sanitation excercise which is against the law, like we have promise whoever violates this order will face the consequences of the law, and today so many of them were sanctioned, some of them have been fined and even some have been taken to police station, but this is not what we want, and what we want is for people to stay at home and clean their environment, so we want called on the people to continue given all the necessary support in discharging our responsibilities” said Garo.
Asked if the ministry would work with KAROTA Personnel to ensure maximum compliance especially with regards to trycycle operators, Nasiru Garo said the Ministry of environment and climate change would synergies with KAROTA just as we work with Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) and Vijilantees groups to ensure everyone including ‘Yan adaidaita sahu comply with government directives.

The Commissioner then solicit for the support of Kano populace in staying at home every last saturday of the month between seven 07:00am to 10:00am to clean their environment so as to stay healthy.
During the excercise, the mobile court attached to central sanitation committee has found 64 defaulters and fined them the sum of three houndred and nine thousand, six houndred Naira (309,600).
