Kebbi Govt. Flags-off Training of 2,400 Teachers

In it’s efforts to improve teaching and learning as well as provision of standard Education to the general populace, the Kebbi State Government in collaboration with POBITECH Consultancy Service, has commenced the training of 2,400 Primary Schools Teachers in the state.

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris while declaring open the training at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, said his administration has declared a revolution in the state educational sector.

The Governor urged, all stakeholders in the education sector to join hands with his administration to move the sector forward.

Governor Idris, said teachers welfare would be accorded more priority by the administration and to also support and encourage the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme by modifying and strengthen its operations to conform with the needs of the society.

While charging the participants to be committed to the training, Governor Idris, reiterated the readiness of his administration to key into avenues that would promote and project the teaching profession in the state.

The Rector, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi Dr. Usman Sani-Tunga, while commending Kebbi State Government for the initiative, described teachers training and retraining as the best way to drive the sector to prosperity.

He assured that, the institution would do its best to give the trainees sound training using qualified and professional trainers.

The Chairman, Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Suleiman Khalid, said the training had been divided into six units, with 400 participants in each unit and scheduled to last for two weeks with English language, Mathematics and Pedagogical skills as subjects for the training.
