The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested 10 suspected Fraudsters, Animal Rustlers, electricity cable Vandals and other criminals in the state in the last 25 days.
The state commissioner of police A. T. Abdullahi disclosed this at a press conference to Mark the achievement of the command held in Dutse the state capital on Thursday.
The statement reads “It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you all to yet another press briefing, where we showcase some of the achievements recorded by the command. During the period under review, the command has placed and sustained some measures to stamp out all forms of crimes and criminalities across the state. This action yielded positive results, to the extent that arrests of suspected criminals were made at their hideouts by the gallant officers of the command. The following are list of suspects arrested in nook and crannies across the state, and brief facts of their involvement in various cases thus:

ARREST OF CABLE WITE VANDALS
On 18/01/24 at about 0400hrs a Patrol team attached to Kazaure Police station arrested one Abdullahi Suleiman ‘m’ age 25yrs of Bindawa LGA, Katsina state, now residing in Kanti quarters Kazaure LGA, in possession of electric cable wires strongly suspected to be stolen.
On investigation, one Abdullahi Isa ‘m’ 49yrs of the same address complaint that, on the same date and time he intercepted the suspect committing the act, when he questioned him, the suspect attacked and stabbed him with knife.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence. Case transferred to SCID for discreet investigation.
ARREST OF TEN (10) FRAUDSTERS TERRORIZING BIRNIN KUDU AND DUTSE COMMUNITIES.
In response to escalating activities of a syndicate engaged in luring victims, through diverse tactics, including dubious exchange in foreign currencies and inticing lucrative deals, leading to financial losses and, at times, resorting to violence, a targeted covert police operation was executed. The operation centered on a syndicate, commonly known as 419s, operating within Kano, Birnin Kudu and Dutse axis.

On Saturday 19/01/2024, at about 2230Hrs, the State Intelligence Department (SID) Dutse operatives carried out an Intelligence-Led-Raid on a suspected location of the fraudsters in Dutse, the State capital, which led to the arrest of three fraudsters namely:
1. Hussaini Ahamed (25yrs, Bauchi state)
2. Sadiq Ibrahim (19yrs, Minna, Niger state)
3. Mubarak Sanusi (23yrs, Jahun LGA)
A detailed search was executed in their premises, leading to the recovery of some vital documents and a vehicle. Among the items recovered, were a Peugeot 406, charms utilized in the deception of victims, counterfeit Franc currency, US Dollars, Pound Sterling, Iranian currency, Mercury, SIM cards, two keypad handsets, two Android handsets, and a sum of twenty four thousand naira (₦24,000) in cash. Suspects were immediately moved to State Headquarters for interrogation.
Following discreet interrogation of the suspects, further information were extracted, which facilitated further arrests of three more fraudsters on 20/01/2024 in various locations in B/Kudu and Dutse LGAs of Jigawa state as follows:
1. Ibrahim Aliyu (24yrs, Birnin Kudu LGA)
2. Aminu Muazu (22yrs, Takur site Dutse, and a POS operator)
3. Idris Shehu (25yrs, Jigawar Tsada quarters Dutse LGA)
Incriminating items, such as SIM cards, keypads, and Android handsets, were also recovered during these subsequent arrests.
Confessions of the aforementioned fraudsters, led to the arrest of four more syndicate members on 21/01/2024 as follows:
1. Aminu Muazu (22yrs, Dutse LGA)
2. Saidu Wada (22yrs, Dutse LGA)
3. Ibrahim Garba (20yrs, Dutse LGA)
4. Ismaila Lamido (21yrs, Dutse LGA)
The arrests were made at various locations, and numerous handsets were recovered. The suspects willingly admitted to employing these devices in defrauding innocent individuals.

A total of 93 SIM cards, crucial in the fraudulent activities, were recovered during the entire operation. The arrested suspects are currently aiding the police in ongoing investigation and will be duly charged to court upon the completion of investigation.
ARREST OF A DRUG PEDDLER
On 21/01/2024 at about 1300hrs, a team of Policemen attached to Babura Division conducted a raid at Babura motor park, where one Yusif Musa ‘m’ age 25yrs of Kofar Yamma Babura LGA was arrested, when searched, the following hard drugs ware recovered in his possession, seven hundred and seventy seven (777) Dizapam tablet, and some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. Suspect transferred to SCID for discreet investigation.
ARREST OF ANIMAL RUSTLERS
On 22/01/2024 at about 0900hrs, one Hassan Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 50yrs of Abbari village, Niger Republic came to Babura Police station and reported that, one Abdullahi Usman ‘m’ aged 20yrs, of Damfa village Babura LGA, Hassan Ado ‘m’ aged 20yrs m of the same address and Tasi’u Umar ‘m’ now at large, conspired and stole away his twenty six goats valued at (₦1,340,000.00).
On receipt of the report, a team of policemen attached to Babura Division swung into action and the aforementioned suspects were arrested and eight goats were recovered from them.
On interrogation, the suspects confessed to have stolen the goats, and sold eighteen (18) out of the twenty six (26) goats at rate of (210,000.00) to one Abdullahi Amadu ‘m’ aged 22yrS of Kunyafa village and one Mustapha of Madangana village who are now at large. However investigation is ongoing to locate the said suspects at large for prosecution.
ARREST OF AN IMPERSONATOR/FRAUDSTER SUSPECT
In another development on 22/01/2024 at about 1000hrs, police personnel attached to the Honorable Speaker, Jigawa State House of assembly, arrested and brought to Dutse Police station one Abduljabar Inuwa 39yrs ‘m’ of Zai quarters Dutse LGA, in possession of four (4) forged complimentary cards bearing the name and insignia of the RT. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly.

On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Dutse Division swung into action, where search was conducted in the premises of the suspect in which twenty (20) additional complimentary cards were recovered.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, and that he had been approaching various Local Government chairmen seeking for one favour or the other (in most cases monetary favour) in the name of the Honorable Speaker. He further mentioned the artist one Ado Zakari who always assist him in printing the complimentary cards. The said Ado Zakari was also arrested.
ARREST OF ANIMAL RUSTLER
On 23/01/2024 at about 1600hrs, patrol team attached to Kiyawa Division, while on routine patrol, sighted one Ado Buba age 25yrs ‘m’ of Dundubus Fulani camp Dutse LGA, in possession of twenty two (22) goats, strongly suspected to be stolen. Hence he was arrested.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have stolen eight (8) goats at Andaza village, Kiyawa LGA. Later the owner one Adamu Maina age 42yrs ‘m’ of Andaza village Kiyawa LGA, was traced and he identified the goats to be his own. Case is under investigation while suspect will be arraigned for prosecution.
