Emir of Dutse, His Highness Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, has urged wealthy individuals in Jigawa state, to pay their alms, in order to ease economic hardship for the less privileged.
The Emir made the call on Monday, when he attended the annual harvest and alms giving ceremony in Miga local government area of Jigawa state.
He said that Zakkah is one of the five pillars of Islam that must be given out by the wealthy individuals to the needy.

The Emir, reminded that through zakkah, people can attract Godly reward, noting that it is an act of pieìty from the wealthy to the needy.
He commended the District head of Miga, Alhaji Garba Muhammed, for mobilising his subjects, to generate alms for distributiom to the needy in the area.
He reminded that alms giving, is a means of wealth cleansing, which provides compassion between the rich and the poor.
“Zakkah is ordained by God and it is expected to be paid by wealthy individuals annually, to ease the hardship of those in need.
“Timely and prompt payment of alms protects against calamities and unforseen afflictions on people over the years.” The Emir explained.
The Emir prayed for more abundant wealth and harvest for those who carried out the holy ritual, thus praying for a more blessed farming season.

The District head of Miga, Alhaji Garba Muhammed in his remarks, pledged more commitment on creating awareness on the importance of zakkah to his subjects.
He commended the Emir and the people who provided the annual zakkah after their harvest, which he said will be distributed to the needy accordingly.
