Windstorm: Kano Govt, NEMA Distributes Relief Materials to 1,218 Victims

The Kano State Government in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday, distributed relief materials to 1,218 victims affected by 2023 windstorm in the state.

The state Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, made the disclosure while flagging off the distribution of relief materials to the beneficiaries from Ungogo, Rano, Madobi, Rimin Gado and Tofa Local Governments in Kano.

Kabir-Yusuf, represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi-Sani , commended the Federal Government and NEMA for the kind gesture.

Speaking earlier, the Director-General NEMA, Mr Mustapha Ahmed-Habib, said
the donation was part of Federal government’s efforts to support victims of disaster across the country.

Ahmed-Habib, represented by NEMA Coordinator Kano Territorial Office, Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi, said the relief materials were meant to bring succor to the victims.

He listed the distributed items to include roofing sheets, clothing materials, rice, maize, beans, vegetable oil, nails, seasoning cube, salt, plastic plates and buckets.

Others are detergents, pad, baby diapers and spaghetti.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary Kano State Emergency Management Agency(SEMA), Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi-Kubarachi, urged the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Muhammad Sani, commended the state government and the agency for the gesture and promised to use the items judiciously.
