NHFSS Arrests Two for Vandalisation of Electricity Cables in Kebbi

The Kebbi State command of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in continuation of its drive of protecting lives and property of the people has apprehended two people for vandalizing electricity cables in Birnin Kebbi metropolise.

Briefing newsmen while handing over the suspects to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, the State Commander, Ambassador Musa Hussaini Rambo, said one Awwalu Musa had climbed the electric pole at Adamu Liba’s residence in Birnin Kebbi metropolis, cut the armoured cable but was arrested at Gwadangaji Area of Birnin Kebbi Metropolis as he attempted to sell it to one Labaran Umar.

He said, a kilo of the cable was usually sold at five thousand naira by the vandals while the buyers in turn sold it out at a higher price, an activity he described as the factor responsible for perennial power shortage in the state capital.

The Commander said, the service would redouble its efforts in fighting such criminality across the state because it was direct sabotage to the good works of Governor Nasir Idris in his relentless strides of bringing unrivalled developments to his people.

Responding, the Kebbi State Commander, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, Alhaji Abubakar Alkamawa, commended Nigeria Hunters and Security Service in their efforts in fighting crimes and criminal activities in the state.

He assured of more synergy between the two security outfits to secure the state of criminals.

In their separate confessions to the crimes, Awwalu Musa said he regretted his oactions that was engineered by the lack of means to feed his family while Labaran Umar claimed it was his first time of buying stolen goods with a promise of living a changed life, describing as devil”s idea when he attempted to bribe the Commander with Fifty Thousand Naira when he was apprehended.

Equally, the Service had intercepted rustlers with seventy four cows at Jarkuka village of Arewa Local Government Area en route Niger Republic through the forest between Sokoto and Kebbi States, during which gun battle ensued and his men overpowered the rustlers who eventually abandoned the cows and were returned to the owners.
