People’s Daily Reporter Emerges NUJ Correspondents Chairman in Niger

People’s Daily Correspondent, Comrade Yakubu Mustapha Bina has emerged as 2nd term Chairman of Correspondents Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Niger State Council.

He emerged as an unopposed candidate with other executives during their election and inauguration held at the chapel office in Minna, Niger state capital.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Yakubu Mustapha Bina assured to achieve more in the areas of welfare package, ensure the unity, stability, integrity of the union, and transparency in its finances as well as ensure professionalism and ethical conduct of members.

He reiterated the commitment of his leadership to carry along every member to ensure peaceful coexistence, adding that election is about acceptability, trust, dialogue, genuine, and believability hence the need to strengthen our relationship with the people who entrusted us with the position of authority.

Comrade Mustapha Bina stated that molestation and harassment of the union members will not be tolerated from any quarters and urged members to join hands with his administration in realizing the desired objectives and development of the chapel while efforts would be made to ensure that challenges confronting the union are being addressed.

He however applauded the chapel members, the electoral committee, and NUJ Niger State Council led by the state council chairman, Comrade Abu Nmadu for their peaceful conduct, supervision, and fatherly role in ensuring a free, fair, credible, and acceptable election.

“Let me sincerely appreciate all our chapel members for giving me another opportunity to serve, I will not let you down, we are all winners and I assure you that we will all smile together at the end of the journey to greatness through your support and cooperation” he stated.

In his speech, the Chairman of the NUJ Niger state council, Comrade Abu Madu, advised the new EXCO to be more organized and allow every member to excel.

Abu Madu also asked the new Exco to be brothers’ keepers for the benefit of the union and the Council in general.

He also commended the corespondent’s Chairman, Mustapha Yakubu Bina, for his honesty and justice during his first tenure and urged him to continue with the good work.

Abu Madu further stated that the essence of the union is to work together and progress, saying that with strong unity, the union can stand strong.

Other New Executives include; Nura Mohammed of VON as Vice Chairman, Dan Atori Okpole of Telegraph as Secretary, Abubakar Akote of Daily Trust- as assistant, Pricilla Dennis of Daily Post as Treasurer, Rita Iliya of NAN -as financial and Mustapha Nasiru Batsari VOA as the Auditor respectively.

It could be recalled that Comrade Yakubu Mustapha Bina is one of the most experienced executives who has served the chapel at various levels including financial secretary, one term acting treasurer and acting secretary, served as two-term secretary, and emerging second term as chairman respectively.
