BREAKING: Sporadic Shooting in Chad, Multiple Dead on Intelligence Service Attack

The headquarters of the National Security Agency of Chad was the target of a murderous attack on the night of Tuesday 27 to Wednesday 28 February 2024.

The government claims it has “neutralized” the attackers, but local sources report “multiple deaths”.

A security analyst and counter-terrorism expert in the Lakechad region and West Africa Zagazola Makama reports that in N’Djamena, the capital of Chad, the offices of the National Agency for State Security (ANSE), Chadian intelligence services were targeted by an armed attack tonight.

The reports of multiple deaths according to multiple sources while the transitional government claims to have repelled the attack.

“The situation is now completely under control,” the government added in its statement.

The situation remains confusing in the capital.

According to several sources, automatic gunshots echoed this Wednesday near the headquarters of an opposition party.

The government accuses the Socialist Party without Borders (PSF), of organizing the raid against the premises of the powerful intelligence services. The accusation is contested by its first official. Yaya Dillo denies involvement in the attack and claims he is surrounded by security forces.

The balance remains uncertain, and the phone network and Internet are also disrupted.

The ANSE assault caused renewed tension in the capital. PSF headquarters has been invaded by the authorities and arrests have been made.

Crowd movements and military deployments were also observed in the city. In N’Djamena, the situation remains tense, and new violence is feared. This incident comes after the announcement of the election. The first round of voting is scheduled for May 6 and the second round is scheduled for June 22.

As a reminder, the fifteen members of the National Election Management Agency were installed in their functions, on February 8.
