Kano High Court Orders Hisbah, Hospital Board to Allow Unfettered Access to Murja Kunya

The Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Nasiru Saminu has ordered the Kano State Hisbah Board and Kano State Hospital Management Board to allow access to Murja Ibrahim Kunya.

The respondent in the suit is the Attorney General of Kano state, Malam Nura Yusuf Ahmed (presiding judge Shara’a court Kwana Hudu), commissioner of Police Kano state, Kano state Hospital Management Board, federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Dawanau as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 respondents respectively.

Murja in a exparte motion moved by her counsel, prayed for the court to order 4th and 5th respondents to give her unfettered access to the applicant.

After hearing on both sides, Justice Nasiru Saminu granted the application and order for Murja Kunya’s access by her counsel.

The court also ordered the 5th respondent (Kano State Hospital Management Board) to provide the applicant and her counsel with a copy of the medical report on the mental evaluation carried out on her.

The higher court also ordered the 2nd respondent in the suit to stay on proceedings of the case pending the determination of the motion of the case before the higher court and issued a certified true copy of the court proceedings to the applicant’s counsel.

The matter was adjourned to 20/03/2024 for hearing of the originating summons.
