Fighting Anemia in Communities: CS-SUNN Engages Stakeholders on Use of MMS in Kano

Civil Society – Scaling up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), Kano State Chapter has engaged with stakeholders on the use of Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) in the fight against Anemia in the state.

Kingsley Ochaje, a representative from the national office of the CS-SUNN said the town hall meeting which took place in three senatorial districts of Kano state is aimed at sensitizing the different communities on the effects of anemia from the grassroots.

According to Mr. Kingsley, the system which involves the use of Vitamin A, C, D, E, and micronutrients such as Zinc, Copper, Folic Acid, and others helps in tackling the disease and promotes good public health.

The meeting also equipped the participants on how to provide multiple micronutrient supplements to pregnant women which will subsequently improve pregnancy outcomes.

The CS-SUNN then urged participants to always be good ambassadors in the fight against the disease in the various communities and by extension the state at large.

Meanwhile, in an interactive session with our correspondent, the public relations officer of CS-SUNN Salman Muhammad emphasized the significance of the MMS in the fight against Anemia saying the program comes at a time when people around host communities suffer from it.

Salman also assured that CS-SUNN will continue with its campaign until all goals are achieved.

In a remark afterward, the district head of Rano thanked the CS-SUNN for organizing such a meeting aimed at improving public health in their various communities.

He then called on the participants to conduct step-down training at their respective domains so that others would also benefit from what was discussed.

The meeting has in attendance, traditional rulers, representatives of the Kano State Ministry of Information, the Kano Nutrition focal person, and MDA’s among others.
