SWAN Kano Partners Aliko Dangote University, Wudil

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kano chapter has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil (ADUST) on Monday 11th March 2024.

GLOBAL TRACKER learned that the purpose of the visit is to seek collaboration with the university in the development of sports programs and to introduce new executive members of the SWAN Kano State Chapter.

During the visit, the Chairman of SWAN Kano, Zaharaddeen Sale, who was accompanied by the Excos members and National SWAN Ex-Officio in charge of Northwest Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, commended the university on the recent appointments of Abdussalam Abubakar Shandi as the Director of Sports and Nura Muhammad Yakasai as the Assistant Director of Sports.

“This appointment was seen as a positive step towards enhancing sports activities within the university and the wider community,” Saleh said.

The Chairman expressed optimism about working together to enhance sports development in the University.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, of ADUST Wudil, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, expressed his gratitude to SWAN Kano for the honor of the visit and welcomed the proposal for collaboration, he assured the university’s readiness in doing so.

He emphasized the importance of sports in the overall development of students and society at large.

Yakasai highlighted the university’s commitment to providing world-class facilities and opportunities for sports enthusiasts. He highlighted the timeliness of the collaboration, especially as the university is set to host the NUGA preliminary games later this year.

Yakasai also requested a SWAN Kano member to be included in the local organizing committee for the upcoming NUGA preliminary games.

“This collaboration between SWAN Kano and Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil holds significant promise for the growth and success of sports programs in the university, it is expected to bring about mutual benefits. It will provide a platform for talent development, sports competitions, and exchange of knowledge and expertise. Additionally, this partnership will contribute to the promotion of sports tourism in the university, and state and the overall growth of the sports industry,” said Yakasai.
