The House Representatives has expressed satisfaction with the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) over execution of quality road infrastructure projects in the North-West.

This is contained in a statement on Friday in Kano by Mr F. Olakunle and Mr A Mohammed, Zonal Coordinators, FERMA Zone I and II.

The FERMA Zone I comprises Kano, Kaduna and Katsina States, while Zone II covers Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi.

The statement said the Chairman, House Committee on FERMA, Mr Aderemi Oseni, lauded the agency for quality work during an oversight visit to the project sites in Kano.

It quoted Oseni as saying that the visit was to inspect FERMA projects awarded in the year 2023 across the federation.

This, according to Oseni, is to know the project impacts and other challenges being experienced in the field by the agency.

The Chairman, who led other members of the committee engaged Zonal Directors and Federal Road Maintenance Engineers (FRME) from the North West Zone I and II of the agency on their activities.

Oseni said the committee was committed towards ensuring continuous operation and actualisation of the agency’s mandate.

He said the Committee had inspected some FERMA Projects in Kano State, to ensure value for money and compliance with specifications.

“We are here to see how you are faring. The quality of your presentation and what we saw here physically on site, I think there is that opportunity for us to appreciate the quality of staff that we have in FERMA.

“You have demonstrated competence and have sufficiently proven that we can have hope on you when we come to quality road delivery and where you equally need to be assisted.

“We have seen that from what you expressed and within the limit and grace of privilege that I have as the Chairman of this agency, we will do our best to compliment what you are doing,” Oseni was quoted as saying.

The statement also quoted Sadiq Ango-Abdullahi, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, and Team Lead, North-West zone, as applauding the agency for quality service delivery.

“This zone has tried in terms of quality service delivery and we have promised to help them face some of the challenges through legislations, and in line with the legislative agenda we intend to address some of the issues that they are facing”.
