The Kano state command of the Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) says it will be the first state to implement the agreement reached between the service and the Market Traders Association MATAN (an Umbrella for all farmers in Nigeria).

The Kano state commander of the Service Abdullahi Al’ameen stated this in an exclusive interview with a GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent in Kano on Monday.

Recall that the Commander General (CG) of the service Dr. Joshua Osatimehin has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the leadership of the Traders Association aimed at strengthening the security of farmers in their farmland before, during, and after the rainy season.

However, reacting to the development of Al’ameen says Kano state command under his leadership would be the first to ensure the full implementation of the agreement reached as the state is known to be leading in agricultural activities nationwide.

The Kano commander described the signing of the agreement as a very good strategy for complementing the federal government’s commitment to ensuring that Nigeria is a food-secured country.

“Kano farmers would have our hundred percent support, you know Kano is leading in any farming activities nationwide, so we would use every resource at our disposal to ensure the said agreement was hundred percent implemented,” said Abdullahi.

“Our humble CG Oga Dr. Joshua Osatimehin has made a very good and wise decision, and we will at all costs support him, I won’t even call on my colleagues, the state commanders to support this good initiative,” he added.

The commander then called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sign into law the “Hunters Bill” which would help them to support other security outfits like the Department of State Service (DSS), the Police, Nigerian Army in achieving the set objectives.
