The Kano State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) has approved the sacking as well as suspension of some staff of Kabo General Hospital with immediate effect after conducting an unscheduled executive supervision visit to the facility.
The executive secretary of the board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda disclosed this shortly after signing the approval proposed by the management after the completion of the visit.
GLOBAL TRACKER reports that the facility which was visited by the Executive Secretary HMB, the Director General of the Kano State Center for Disease Control (KNCDC) Dr. Muhammad Abbas, and the director general of CSACA Dr. Usman Bashir expressed their total dissatisfaction with what they met on ground and referred to it as an act of sabotage.

Dr Nagoda explained that 3 officers of the X-ray units were caught charging patients 12,000 for X-rays against the approved hospital price of 2,000 and no documents to show as evidence of payment leaving the facility to carry out fewer than 10 X-rays per week even though the 2 X-ray batteries are functional.
He then approved the immediate dismissal of the 3 officers on grounds of excessive extortion of patients.
Also, the Executive Secretary approved the suspension of the accountant, auditor, and head of lab for selling the free HIV test kits given to facilities by the state government and is asked to report to the board headquarters for further disciplinary actions.
Furthermore, Dr. Nagoda explained that the Labour ward was not in shape, with no bed sheets on the beds, no compound officer, dumped equipment where donated by a state member of the House of Assembly 4-years ago, as well as dumped COVID-19 items donated to the facility.
He lamented that no one would be spared if caught. “this act needs to stop. This decision we took should serve as a deterrent to others. We took an oath so we will stick to that oath and sanitise the health system.
The executive secretary also said it is sad after the Executive governor Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf made sure he brought every health staff back on the CONHESS salary scale, but they still exploited innocent patients.
The public relations officer of the board Samira Suleiman disclosed this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER in Kano on Sunday.
He then called on every officer to sit up and those that have a skeleton in their cupboard should note that executive supervision is ongoing with full force,” once you are caught, have yourself to blame”.
