Workers Day: Kebbi Governor Assures to Implement Sustainable, Affordable Minimum Wage to Workers.

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasiru Idris, has assured the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) of implementing a sustainable and affordable minimum Wage for civil servants in the state.

Governor Idris, who made the assurance in his address to mark the Worker’s Day celebration in Birnin Kebbi, said already a committee has been set up under the leadership of the state Head of Service and the Labour leaders to work out modalities for the implementation of an approvable and payable minimum Wage to Workers in the state.

According to the governor, Kebbi State would be the first state to implement the new minimum Wage for its civil servants considering the state with a Labour Governor.

Governor Idris, while assuring workers of a conducive working environment, urged them to be disciplined and dedicated to their work.

The Kebbi State Chairman, of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Murtala Usman, acknowledged the harmonious working relationship between the state government and the organised labour unions in the state.

He urged the state government to fulfil its promise to implement the new minimum Wage salary approved by the Federal Government.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of awards to the past Labour leaders in the state as well as the President of the NLC Joe Ajero, a match passed by labour Unions in the state.
