Ribadu Reacts to Alleged Involvement in Emir Bayero’s Return to Kano

The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has firmly denied allegations that NSA Nuhu Ribadu facilitated the return of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to the city on Saturday morning.

Recalled that Aminu Abdulsalam, the Deputy governor of Kano State, had alleged that Nuhu Ribadu provided two aircraft for Aminu Ado Bayero’s return to Kano at 4:30 am on Saturday.

“The National Security Adviser provided two jets to bring the dethroned emir back to Kano and to the palace,” claimed the Deputy Governor.

However, in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Zakari Mijinyawa, the spokesperson for the NSA’s office, refuted this claim.

He categorically stated that Nuhu Ribadu did not supply the aircraft used to transport Aminu Ado Bayero to Kano.

Mijinyawa cautioned politicians to exercise restraint in their statements, emphasizing that irresponsible remarks could undermine the efforts of security agencies striving to maintain peace in the state.

“I saw the comments circulating on social media, but they are false. The NSA did not provide any air transport to Kano,” Mijinyawa said. “Political actors should avoid spreading misinformation that could destabilize the state’s peace and order.”

Recall that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Friday reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi (II), the 14th Emir of Kano, four years after he was out of the Emirate.

The reinstatement followed the repeal of the state’s Emirate Council Law 2019, which had established five Emirate Councils and appointed five first-class Emirs.

The Governor announced Muhammadu Sanusi’s reinstatement on Thursday, but the Federal High Court has since issued an order preventing the state Government from implementing the new Emirate Council law that reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi (II).

Security agencies in Kano have also urged all parties involved in the dispute to comply with the court order and have pledged to maintain peace and stability in the region.
