Kano Hospital Board Condemns Attack on Female Doctors, Assures Justice Will Be Serves

The Kano State Hospitals Management Board have strongly condemned the recent attack on two female doctors at Hasiya Bayero Paediatrics Hospital within the metropolis.

In a statement by public relations officer of the board Samira Suleiman said the incident which occurred at around 2:40am on monday night witness four armed men, two with mask and the other two unmasked attacking the doctors in the doctors room.

According to the statement, the issue began when a woman came with a sick child and she was referred to another facility due to lack of bed space but the lady pleaded on spending the night at facility as she was not mobile. The doctors left to their doctors room to rest as there was no emergency case at hand.

Suddenly, at around 2:40am there was heavy knock on the doctor’s door urging them to open the door immediately claiming that they don’t have time to waste. At the beginning the doctors resisted, but when the men threatened to break down the door out of fear they quickly opened even do they were not properly dressed up.

At gunpoint, the armed men insisted that they must admit the child or they would end up shooting one of the doctors. This lead to somuch confrontation between the doctors and armed men.

Further more, out of fear of uncertainty, NMA withdrew their members from the facility until peace was restored. CCTV footage was pulled up from the facility and security agents where invited from the DSS for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Executive secretary of the board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda has reiterated board’s commitment in fishing out the culprit and bringing them to book.

According to him, “investigations are on going and we promise to get justice for the doctors. We would not fold our arms and see our officers and system suffer”.

The Executive Secretary added that all other officers in the facility should remain clam and go about their normal activities as adequate armed security have been put in place to keep the facility safe.
