ACOMIN, COVID-19 Response Team Visit KSACA DG, Solicit for Support

The Civil Society in Malaria Control Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) and Resilient and Sustainable System for Health COVID-19 Response Mechanism (RSSH–C19RM) Project has paid a familiarization visit to the Director General (DG) of Kano state Agency for Control of Aids (KSACA) and solicited for his support in the project implementation in the state.

The Kano state program officer of ACOMIN Malam Sharif Abubakar in an interview with GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent in Kano, said the visit focused on how to engaged with the new leadership of the agency for a successful implementation.

According to him, ACOMIN focal point is Malaria project monitoring, oversight, advocacy and accountability components at the community and state level.

“ACOMIN team paid an Advocacy visit to the DG of KSACA Dr. Bashir Usman for a familiarization visit on GF/GC7 project in Kano State,” he said.

“ACOMIN is being engaged on this grant to implement the community component of the malaria project oversight, advocacy and accountability components at the community and State level. The strategy deployed for this intervention is the Community Led Monitoring (CLM),” Sharif said.

He said “the GC7 grant is approve for ACOMIN is to implement an integrated CLM for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM), with malaria reamaining the main focus. The aim is to pursue an increase in the quality of service, generate real time objective information, assess the quality and quantity of service delivery, reduce wastage and loss of interventions and advocate for increased resource allocation for Malaria, as well as HIV and TB intervention as applicable.”

Also speaking, the state program officer of (RSSH–C19RM) Alhaji Abdulhakim Dayyab said they were at KSACA to Solicit for support in all areas of project implementation.

According to Dayyab, the program aims at strengthening the health system in the state through a Community-led monitoring approach.

“In today’s courtesy visit to KSACA DG, the State ATM coordinators of the 3 networks, Dr. Nura Haladu, State chair ACOMIN; Alhaji Nuhu Tela, the state chair of NEPWHAN; Alhaji Sunusi Hashim, the state chair for TB-Network and Mr. Abdulhakim Daiyab, the Kano C19RM State Program Officer, made the joint visit with colleagues on implementing the GF- CRS program to strengthen their collaboration towards achieving the program’s success.”

Dayyab then assured the DG that they are partners in progress and they will work closely with all the relevant policy makers in achieving the set objectives.

In a remark, the DG of KSACA Dr. Bashir Usman appreciate the visit describing the duo as partners in progress, as the agency is currently working with different nongovernmental organization in different areas of work.

Dr. Bashir said it is important for both ACOMIN and C19RM to register with the agency and periodically informing it on any development or issues for prompt response.

On invitation for attending monthly coordination meeting, the DG said an officer will be assigned to be attending as well as updating the agency on any activity aimed at having harmonious relationship between the agency and ACOMIN/C19RM.
