HMB Warns Against Hording Drugs, Consumable, As Kano Distributes N18.5M Free Commodities to Hospitals

The Kano state Hospital Management Board (HMB) has warned Chief Medical Directors (CMD), Zonal Directors (ZD) and hospitals chief against Hording or diversion of free drugs that was distributed by the state government.

The Executive secretary of the board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda disclosed this shortly after the state commissioner for health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf launched symbolic distribution of Drugs, consumables to seven secondary health facilities as take off held in Kano on Thursday.

According to Nagoda, the executive committee would continue to work and be visiting all the hospital to ensure maximum compliance with state government directives.

“I will also want pass a warning to Hospital management, this drug a main to be used, they shouldn’t be storing it under lock and key, as we pass through our executive supervision, we need to see our environment clean, and if we found anybody wanting, we’ll not spare him,” said Nagoda.

He commended Kano state government led by engineer Abba Kabiru Yusuf and the state commissioner for health for launching the symbolic distribution, emphasizing that the drugs were part of the state government commitment in improving health care delivery in the state.

In a remark, the state commissioner for health said the drugs is worth eighteen million, five hundred thousand naira (18,000,000.00).

He said the drugs and consumable were symbolically distributed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Sir Sanusi Muhammadu General Hospital, Sheik Muhammad Jidda General Hospital, and Sabon Bakin Zuwo hospital and maternity.

Others are Jaen Primary Health care (PHC), Gwagwarwa Primary Health care (PHC) and Unguwa Uku Primary health care.

“The drugs is for pregnant women and victims of accidents, in last month a lone we have recorded 4,792 deliveries out of which 483 were conducted through caesareans session, while antenatal care attendance was up to 28,057, while total live birth is 4,705” said Dr. Labaran.

“The symbolic distribution of today is to be given to four (4) secondary health facilities and three (3) primary health care facilities, while remaining facilities will letter today or tomorrow come and collected their own Commodities,” said commissioner.

The commissioner added that a cleansing material was also distributed to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi, Hasiya Bayero pediatric hospital, Murtala Muhammad Specialist hospital, Sheik Muhammad Jidda as well as Waziri Gidado general hospital.
