The Mari-care foundation for Widows, Orphans, Single Parents and Vulnerable Children in Nigeria has sensitized communities in Aisami of Kabuga ward in Gwale local government area in Kano state.
The Executive director of the foundation Mrs Ola Taiwo in an exclusive Interview with GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent in Kano said the event focused on sensitizing different communities in Aisami ward and it environ on the effects and consequence of Intimated partner violence (IPV) and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
According to her, the foundation’s key areas of priority is on Health, Education, GBV, Migration and Empowerment of Women and vulnerable children.

“Gender Based Violence is very rampant in Nigeria and Kano will not be exceptional, that is why today we reach out to some communities in Aisami of Gwale local government area to create awareness as well as sensitizing them on what GBV is all about,” she said.
“We told them that if they have any case of GBV they should not hide it, they should report to appropriate authorities, they should thank god they are not very par from Murtala Muhammad Specialist hospital and an organization called Waraka was there, people should report any GBV to them for necessary actions,” Mrs Taiwo said.
She said many of the invitee’s comes from Aisami community and they were tasked for more awareness and sensitization so that members of their immediate family and communities would benefit from the gesture.
The community stakeholders promised to support Mari-care foundation for more sensitization at community level.
Mrs Taiwo urged parents and caregivers to report any GBV cases to any nearest GBV/IPV Centre for appropriate actions, adding that by hiding them those responsible is encouraged to continues committing crimes unchecked.
