List of Countries That Signed Extradition Treaty With Nigeria.

An extradition treaty is a formal agreement between two countries that outlines the conditions and procedures for one country to transfer a person to another country to face trial or punishment for a crime committed in the requesting country.

Before a person can be extradited to another he or she must committed an offense that was recognized by both countries as extraditable offense which mostly centred on Treason, Terrorism, Fraud, murder among others.

Key aspects of extradition treaties include Dual criminality, Surrender of fugitives and so on.

Below are the list of countries with Extradition Treaties with Nigeria

United States : Nigeria signed an extradition treaty with the United States on December 22, 1931, which came into force on June 24, 1935.

United Kingdom: Nigeria and the UK have an extradition treaty, with the London Scheme of Extradition within the Commonwealth governing extradition between the two countries.

Australia: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Australia.

Afghanistan: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Afghanistan.

Azerbaijan: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Azerbaijan.

Brazil: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Brazil.

Brunei Darussalam: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Brunei Darussalam.

Egypt: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Egypt.

Greece: Nigeria has an extradition treaty with Greece.

By this, any Nigerian who committed a crime and stayed in the above mentioned nations, the federal government of Nigeria may request any of them to send him/ her back to Abuja so as to stand trial or serve his sentenced if found guilty by court of law and vice versa.
