The Kano State Government has pleged to support and facilitate the actualization as well as upgrade of Alfjar College of Education to University status.
The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata announced this when he visited the college campus at Tudun Yola in Gwale Local Government Area on Monday.
Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata, expressed his delight with the students’ conduct, quality of the lecturers, and the campus environment.

He commended the Engr. Abdelkhalekh Almolla Charity Foundation for establishing the college in the state.
The commissioner acknowledged the scholarship programme which he noted contributes greatly to the development of the state’s educationa sector.
He emphasized the education importance, highlighting it as a cornerstone of Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration.
He then assured that the government would support such charity foundations to help them achieve their objectives.
Dr. Kofar Mata also noted the significant educational developments over the past year under the current administration, including sponsoring over 1,000 students to pursue postgraduate degrees abroad, improving state-owned institutions, enhancing synergy with private institutions, and declaring a state of emergency on education among others.
In a statement by director public relations Sanusi Abdullahi Kofar Na’isa described the college as the best and most exemplary private college in the state due to the variety of courses offered and its unique free scholarship program.
Earlier, the College Director, Engineer Abdelkhalekh Almolla, explained that the institution was established to serve African countries, focusing on providing education to the youth, particularly in memorizing the Qur’an along with NCE courses, at no cost. He mentioned that over 90% of the students have benefited from free education during the sixteen years of the college’s existence, particularly in the field of Qiratul-Qur’an.
He also expressed gratitude to the ministry for promptly providing the operational license, enabling the college to run successfully.
The Director who organised the launch reception to commissioner, announced that the college will soon offer five additional diploma courses, with four of them being 100% scholarship programs from the foundation. These include Qiratul-Qur’an, Al-Hadith, Tafsir, and Arabic for Nigerians.

Almolla further explained that each year, the college admits approximately 1,500 students, most of whom are indigenous to Kano. He promised to gradually increase this number with the aim of empowering Nigerian youths through Qur’an memorization and Arabic education.
The college is a private institution established under the Engr. Abdelkhalekh Almolla Charity Foundation in Kano, aims to empower Nigerians, particularly the youth of Kano State, by enabling them to memorize the Qur’an within a year and obtaining an NCE certificate in both Islamic and secular education.
