The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed three second-class Emirs for the Rano, Gaya, and Karaye Emirates.
The new emirates were established by the Governor on July 16, 2024, with Kano as the first-class emirate.
The appointed Emirs are:
1. Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, Emir of Karaye (formerly District Head of Rogo), which comprises of Karaye and Rogo local government areas.
2. Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, Emir of Rano (formerly District Head of Bunkure), which comprises Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure local government areas.
3. Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, Emir of Gaya (formerly Emir of the defunct Gaya emirate) that comprises Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu local government areas.

Governor Yusuf congratulated the new Emirs and charged them to promote culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates.
The appointments take effect immediately.
