BREAKING: Police Imposes 24 Hours Curfew Over Violent Protest in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command says it has imposed 24 hour curfew due violence and attack on stores, local government secretariat and houses of politicians during hunger protest in the state.

The command public relations officer DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam disclosed this in a statement sent to journalist in Dutse, the state capital.

According to Shiisu, fifty five (55) people were arrested and six items was recovered during the protest.

“We’ve arrested fifty five (55) suspects, recovering Motorcycles 35, Tricycle 3, Bicycles 12, Bags of fertilizer 111, Chairs 9 and Cartons of mosquito nets 40,” said Shiisu.

“Some of the damage area Trespassed Hadejia LG Secretariat and set fire on six (6) parked vehicles, Vandalized JARDA store, made away with fertilizer and food stuff in Gumel LG, Set fire on the house of national assembly member, one Hon. Nazifi Sani, Vandalized NITDA office, Looted APC state secretariat and set it ablaze, Vandalized JASCO store and carted away with fertilizer and foodstuff in B/Kudu and Attempted attacking sen Babangida Hussaini’s house in Kazaure LGA,” he said.

DSP Lawan Shiisu added that the situation is under control.
