A global movement for the protection of human right, the Amnesty International has called on the executive governor of Kano Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf to immediately set up an independent judicial commission of enquiry to investigate the killing of at least 10 protesters, which the group described as “deliberate” in Kurna and Kofar Nassarawa in the metropolis.

In a statement issued by the director of the group, Isa Sanusi, he said that the committee must do its work without interference, and it is the duty of the government to give it everything it needs to carry out its responsibilities.

The group also said the Alleged killing must be investigated on how the Nigerian security forces dealt with the protests.

“Failure to conduct investigations into the killings and destruction of property in Kano since August 1st to date, may lead to the violation of law and order.”

The announcement added that the lack of investigation will make this attitude of impunity continue to exist in the country, as it is not a new thing in Nigeria, the statement said.

GLOBAL TRACKER learned that there was a clash during the protest against the high cost of living as a result of bad governance, which report said at least 15 people were Injured out of which 10 were confirmed dead.
