The Kano state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) had swears in new executive that will run the affairs of the organization in the next three years.
The swearing as well as inauguration was attended by prominent journalist, and media practitioners including the renowned Baba Halilu Dantiye, the serving Kano state commissioner of information, president Nigerian Medical and Health Workers Union Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, The National chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalist NAWOJ among other dignitaries.
Barrister Ma’aruf Yakasai while swearing the new executives, announced that Suleiman Dederi was elected unopposed as the new chairman of the NUJ, Kano state council, while Mustapha Gambo Muhammad, a judicial correspondent of the Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM Kano elected as vice chairman.

Other members of the executive council including Abubakar Shehu Kwaru as secretary, Hauwa Suleiman Zaharaddeen as assistant secretary, Nura Bala Ajingi as Treasurer, Abdullahi Hassan, financial secretary and Salisu Kassim as Auditor.
In his speech, the New chairman Suleiman Dederi appreciate support and ward of encouragement he has been receiving from friends, colleagues in the information sector, adding that the state government commitment and support could not be forgotten.
He assured that the journalism profession under his watch will flourish, saying “my leadership will be for all irrespective of ethnicity, background, color, religious believe or region.”
The new chairman urged journalist to continue supporting the union in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
Also speaking, the new vice chairman Mustapha Gambo Muhammad assured that the council will continue use every resources at her disposal to support journalism profession.
He solicit strong working relationship between the union and the state government so as to achieve the set targets.
