Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has strongly condemned the recent attack on the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Champion Zonal Headquarters), along the Federal College of Education (FCE) road in Kontagora.
The Governor described the incident as a mindless and cowardly act.
The barbaric attack, carried out by hoodlums in the early hours of Saturday, resulted in the burning and looting of the church.

The Governor Bago emphasized that this act is not only an attack on the Christian community but also a direct affront to the peace and unity cherished in Niger State.
“We completely condemn this heinous act and assure our Christian brothers and sisters, as well as all residents of Niger State, that the government prioritizes their safety, security, and freedom of religion. Our state thrives on its diversity and the peaceful coexistence of all religious and ethnic groups. We will not tolerate such senseless violence,” the Governor stated.
He directed all relevant security agencies to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. He expressed confidence that the perpetrators of this atrocious arson will be swiftly identified and brought to justice.
According to him, the state government administration is committed to ensuring that those responsible are punished to the fullest extent of the law.
The Governor also called on the people of Kontagora and Niger State to remain calm and avoid any acts of retaliation or violence. “Let us continue to work together to maintain the peace and unity that define our great state. The government will continue to take all necessary measures to protect all places of worship and prevent such regrettable incidents from occurring again,” he added.

Governor Bago urged all citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. “Together, we can prevent further occurrences of such heinous acts and preserve the peace that we all cherish. Our thoughts are with the members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the entire Christian community during this difficult time.”
