Every Child Should Have Access To Basic Education in Kano — Emir Sanusi

The 16th emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi says the Kano state Emirate council will partner with the state government to ensure that every child have access to basic education.

Sanusi stated this in Kaduna at a two-day Kano state education sector joint steering committee meeting.

The emir represented by the Dokajin Kano who double as the district head of Garko local government Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu Wudil said the Education Recovery Conference organized in previous months and the ongoing committee meetings are efforts made to fine-tuning strategies for the effective implementation of educational policies and are significant steps in addressing the challenges facing educational sector in the state.

He urged all stakeholders to remain committed to the noble cause and to work collaboratively to ensure that the plans and strategies discussed during these meetings are successfully implemented.

He also pleaded with the donor partners to reconsider funding derived to cover almajiri system in the state.

According to his Highness, Education is the foundation of any thriving society and it is the collective responsibility of all state and non state actors (stockholders) to ensure that every child in Kano State has access to quality education.

Sanusi then commended the dedication and unrelenting commitment of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabit Yusuf, to the advancement of the education sector. Particularly noteworthy is the Governor’s recent declaration of a State of Emergency on Education, which reflects the seriousness with which his administration views the issue of education in the state.

In a remark, the Kano state commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa who took moment to acknowledge the tireless efforts of his excellency the executive governor Kano state Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for his bold decision to declare state of emergency in the education sector and to everyone present here, especially our partners and stakeholders who have continuously supported the educational initiatives in Kano State.

“Your commitment to the development of education has been instrumental in shaping the future of our children and, by extension, the future of our state,” said Doguwa.

“As we convene here today, it is important to reflect on the progress we have made in the education sector. Over the past year his excellency that executive governor of Kano have made a significant improvement in access to quality education, teacher training and a great strides on the infrastructural deficits in our schools,” he said.

The commissioner represented by permanent secretary of the ministry Hajiya Kubra Imam said the recent reforms on our 64 year old education law and the review of four of our stale education policies as supported by PLANE project was a relief on the system that has been in stagnation through the years.

According to her, despite these achievements, we are also mindful of the challenges that remain. Issues such as overcrowded classrooms, inadequate resources, and the need for better teacher deployment still persist.

“These challenges require our collective efforts and innovative solutions to overcome,” said Kubra.

The purpose of this meeting is to deliberate on strategic goals and objectives that will guide our actions in the coming years One of our key focuses must be on ensuring that every child in Kano State has access to quality education, regardless of their background or location.

She said to achieve their target, they most prioritize, improving School Infrastructure, teacher Training and Deployment, strengthening Partnerships and monitoring and Evaluating every steps taken to ensure successful implementation.

Mrs Imam then reiterated his excellency the executive governor of Kano state Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf commitment to repositioning the education sector of the State.
