Canoe Capsizes Left 5 Dead As Four Man Squad Kill 20-year Old Boy in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested three people namely Aisu Auwalu and Abdu’aziz Muhammad AKA Babale and Sadau (who is now at large) in connection with the murder of tricycles operator Ana’s Jamilu aged 20 year of Garki local government area of the state.

Also, the command confirmed that five people have died as a result of canoe who capsized in Buji local government area of the state.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command public relations officer disclosed this in a statement sent to journalist in Dutse the state capital on Tuesday.

The statement reads “On 21/08/2024 at about 1930hrs, one Jamil Bako ‘m’ age 45yrs of Duwala Tsohuwa village, Garki LGA, reported at Garki Divisional Headquarters that, on 19/08/2024 at about 1700hrs unknown persons boarded his son, a cyclist, one Anas Jamilu ‘m’ age 20yrs of the same address, on reaching Sabuwar Rijiya Fulani settlement, they stopped him, beat him up and threw him inside well and fled with his motorcycle boxer red in color.

“Until when the corpse started decomposing, the attention of the nearby village was drown, hence the report.

“Upon learning of the incident, the patrol team affiliated with Garki Divisional Headquarters immediately proceeded to the scene, extracted the body from the well, and transported it to the Garki Primary Health Care Center for a postmortem examination. The attending physician pronounced the victim dead, and the body was subsequently given to his relatives to be buried in accordance with Islamic customs.

Consequently, on 22/08/2024 one Aisu Auwalu ‘m’ age 20yrs of Kaya village Garki LGA, was nabbed at Yankaba in Nassarawa local government area of Kano state trying to dispose the motorcycle.

“During questioning, the suspect admitted to luring the victim to pick him up from his home village and take him to see his girl friend. He further mentioned his accomplice one Abdulaziz Muhammad alias Babale ‘m’ age 25yrs of Dakau Fulani settlement, Garki LGA, and one Sadau ‘m’ of Duwala village Garki LGA now at large. Abdulaziz is a repeat offender who is presently incarcerated at the Correctional Center Ringim.

The statement said all the suspects will be charged to court after thorough investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse. Also efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing culprits.

On a tragic and sad note, today Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 at about 1200hrs, information from the source disclosed that, a canoe carrying five (5) persons while trying to cross the road at Ganta town, Buji LGA where flood affected the road, the cart was capsized and instantly got drawn.

On receipt of the pitiful report, a team of policemen in collaboration with a local divers rushed to the scene with a view to rescue them alive.

They were rescued by the team and conveyed to Gansta Cottage Hospital, regretfully the medical doctor on duty certified them dead. The corpses were released to relatives for burial.

The deceased names are; Lurwanu Adamu ‘m’ age 30yrs, Idris Abubakar ‘m’ 50yrs, Fiddausi Dahiru ‘f’ 13yrs, Ramla Nura ‘f’ 7yrs and Usman Adamu ‘m’ 2yrs all of Malamawar gangare, Birnin kudu LGA.
