The United Kingdom government has announced a partial suspension of Arms export to Israel due to concerns about their usage in the ongoing Genocide in Gaza.

The decision followed a review by the foreign ministry into arms sales to Israel and the situation will be kept under review.

UK foreign secretary David Lammy stated that 30 out of 350 arms export licenses to Tel Aviv would be suspended, covering fighter aircraft, helicopters and drones that could be used in the Israel’s current genocidal conflict against Palestinian.

But, Lammy said the ban does not include parts for the F-35 fighter jets, the decision right groups berates UK for.

The foreign minister announced a review looking at the arms sales shortly after Labour swept to power in a landslide general election victory over the Conservatives in July.

“It is with regret that I inform the House (of Commons) today the assessment I have received leaves me unable to conclude anything other than that for certain UK arms exports to Israel, there does exist a clear risk that they might be used to commit or facilitate a serious violation of international humanitarian law,” Lammy told lawmakers.

GLOBAL TRACKER recalled that the Britain’s centre-left Labour government has repeatedly called for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, and for the speeding up of aid deliveries into Gaza, since taking power on July 5.

Meanwhile, in a response to the development, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement that his country was “disappointed by a series of decisions” made by the British government, including the decision regarding defence exports.

Katz said the move “sends a very problematic message” to the Palestinian group Hamas and its patrons in Iran, Aljazeera media network reports.
