World International Peace Day 2024: Kano Peace Committee Inaugurates Football Academy

The Kano state Peace Committee (KPC) and Nigeria for Peace Project (N4P) has formally inaugurated the “Kano Peace Committee Football Academy” as part of the activities to mark and celebrate 2024 international Peace Day in Kano state.

The convener and head of Secretariat of KPC and N4P Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya stated this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER in Kano on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Waiya who is also Executive director Citizens for Development and Education said the event was deliberately designed to consolidate the message of this year’s theme “Cultivating the Culture of Peace” intentionally targeting the young people in the State, and engage on the importance of peace and peaceful coexistence.

Amb. Waiya, said, it is indeed, critical at this moment of our growing challenges and threat to peace and security, to grossly engage the youths at every layer, to cultivate the culture of peace building, social cohesion with a view to implant the love for humanity, nationalism and patriotism, regardless of ethnic, regional and religious inclination.

It is time to build a collective action to preserve and support all efforts, to ensure that, a human society full of peace, security and prosperity is built.

The Kano Peace Committee Football Academy, shall be supported to serve as a breeding platform for young talented people, and create an opportunity for them to pursue their dreams of becoming great players at both local, national and international level.

The Kano Peace Committee shall equally expose the players through trainings on the importance of peace, to transform them into peace advocates and peace building agents in their constituencies, communities, state and around the country at large.

During the event, Amb. Ibrahim Waiya, was unanimously endorsed as the CHAIRMAN, for the Academy, while Dr. Habib Abubakar Awais, was equally nominated as the Secretary General for the Academy.

The players at their respective response, appreciated the Kano Peace Committee, for its unrelenting contribution to Peace development and security in Kano State, the North and the country at large.
