Nearly 100 People Died After Petrol Tanker Explodes in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of about 94 people, as a result of petrol tanker explosion in Majia town, Taura local government area.

The state police public relations Officer DSP Lawan Shi’isu Adam confirmed the development to newsmen in Dutse.

According to him, about 50 people sustained live threatening injuries and are being hospitalised at Ringim general hospital.

Adam said that the incidence occurred at about 11:30pm on Tuesday in Majia Town, when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University.

“Petrol tanker with reg no. KMC 6412 F driven by one Yusuf Mohd 32yrs of Hotoro Quarters, Kano state,” said Shiisu.

The police image-maker said, the tanker left Kano state on his way to Nguru town in Yobe state, when the tanker driver eventually lost control of the vehicle and it exploded.
