Alleged Affair With Married Woman: Jigawa Govt. Suspends Commissioner, Setup Investigative Committee

The Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has approved the immediate suspension of Auwalu Dalladi Sankara as Commissioner Ministry of Special Duties and member of the State Executive Council pending an investigation into allegations made by the Kano State Hisbah Board.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State Malam Bala Ibrahim.

The SSG in a statement on Saturday said, “the decision comes in light of recent claims that necessitate a thorough examination to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the State Administration.”

“The suspension is a precautionary measure intended to facilitate a fair investigation,” said the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim.

“We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government.”

Meanwhile, a five man investigative committee has been set- up on Saturday to among other things to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alledged accusations labelled against the Commissioner by the Kano State Hisba Board on the personality of Awwalu D. Sankara on his status as Commissioner for Special Duties’ in the jigawa State government.

The formation of the committee was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government Bala Ibrahim.

“The Jigawa State Government viewed with serious concern by media reports ealier circulated in various sections of the Media alleging the State Commissioner of Special Duties’ involvement in an illicit affair with a married woman in Kano”

“The reports lead to significant embarrassment and degradation to the reputation of the State Government,” said SSG.

Accordingly, the State Government is compelled to set up an investigative committee to unravel the authenticity of the allegations levelled against the Commissioner.

The 5-man Committee would be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim.

Other members of the Committee according to the statement are:

1. Hon. Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture – Member

2. Hon. Commissioner for Basic Education, Hon Lawal Yunusa Danzomo – Member

3. Special Adviser Security Matters – Member

4. Principal Private Secretary to the Governor – Secretary

“The Committee has two weeks within which to submit its report,” the statement concluded.
