Sassakawa Africa Association Signs $100,000 MOU with Jigawa state on Agricultural Value Addition

Sassakawa Africa Association, has said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding of $100,000 with the Jigawa state government, for more intervention in the agricultural value chain.

The Deputy country Director of the Association, Dr Abdulhamid Gambo, made this known on Friday, in an interview with newsmen in Dutse.

He said that the deal will strengthen ties with the State government and build the capacity of farmers, thus adding value to the agricultural value chain.

The Deputy country Director however, commended the government for the renewed commitment and aim to support the association’s interventions across the 27 local government areas of the state.

According to him, “We welcome individual partnerships to scale up technologies that are transforming lives.

“We have trained many farmers and build their capacity, boosted their productivity and created markets for them to enable them sell their goods,” Dr Gambo said.

Sassakawa Africa were in Jigawa state on Friday on Media Field Day tour, to communities where their interventions are extended.

SAA started as an international non-governmental organisation registered in 1986 in Geneva and now is operating as a general incorporated foundation in Japan.

It has works in communities to improve the livelihoods of small holder farmers and reduce poverty by strengthening the relationship between National Agriculture Research and Extension Systems.

It also works with universities, International Agricultural Research Centers, extension workers and farmer organizations and by providing comprehensive support.
