A Non-governmental organization ‘side by side movement’ has urged for Corporal Punishment against perpetrators of Gender Based Violence (GBV) as it will deter others from committing crimes to women.
Rev. Adeyamo Samuel, the co-chair side by side movement disclosed this at a gender walk to mark 16 days of Activism starting from 25th November, 2024 held in Kano on Monday.
During the work which start from first Bank roundabout via Bank road and ends at Kano state ministry of women affairs and social development in Kano metropolis, Samuel has emphasized the need for long-term policies aimed at protection of women and children in Nigeria.

He said violence against women and girls remains a pervasive human rights violation worldwide.
Rev. Adeyamo advocates for government support and resources, including domesticating gender policies, equal education and job opportunities, vocational training, and entrepreneurship skills to mitigate violence against women.
The co-chair encourages women to develop themselves through education and entrepreneurship skills according to global standards.
The theme of the 2024 International day for the Elimination of Violence against Women: “Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls” which centered on joining forces against gender based violence globally.
