The Tijjaniyyah sect has announced the removal of Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II as leader of the group in Nigeria following his reinstatement as the Emir of Kano by the state government.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by one of the leading figure in the group Khalifa Sheik Mahy Sheik Ibrahim Niasse and sent to journalist.
The statement said by this development, all the activities and mantle of leadership of the group in Nigeria would be led by Sheik Tahir Usman Bauchi and Sheik Sharif Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini.

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Firstly, I extend my warmest regards and heartfelt congratulations to all Tijjaniyyah followers for witnessing and successfully participating in the recently concluded Mawlid celebrations across the globe. May Allah continue to guide and bless us all.
Secondly, in light of the unity and harmonious collaboration among Tijjaniyyah followers in Nigeria, we have had extensive consultations with stakeholders and senior scholars (ashyaks). After these deliberations, the following resolutions have been made:
• Alhamdulillah, with the return of Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II to the Kano Emirate, it has been resolved that the Office of Khalifa within the Tijjaniyyah in Nigeria will no longer exist.
• The activities of Tijjaniyyah in Nigeria will henceforth be overseen by senior sheikhs, specifically Sheikh Tahir Usman Bauchi and Sheikh Sharif Ibrahim Saleh Al-Husaini, who will guide the affairs of the community with wisdom and dedication.
• To ensure unity and singularity of purpose, the leadership of the National Mawlid celebrations of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse will be under my stewardship, Khalifa Sheikh Mahy Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse, in collaboration with the ashyaks and muqaddams.
• In our efforts to foster unity and cooperation among Tijjaniyyah sheikhs worldwide, an office has been established at the United Nations. This will serve as a platform to facilitate the formation of a World Tijjaniyyah Assembly, strengthening our global ties and advancing our collective mission.
May Allah guide us in implementing these resolutions for the benefit of the Tijjaniyyah community and the Ummah at large.
