Former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello Arraigned in Court for N80bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arraigned former Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello before federal high court sitting in Maitama Abuja.

EFCC arraigned Bello on allegations of 80 billion Naira Fraud.

Bello who had been hiding for months was finally brought to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters on Tuesday.

Yahaya Bello was declared wanted by EFCC for failing to honour several commission’s invitations, the development leading it to tried him in Absentia before the court.

Operatives of the commission clarified to Daily Trust correspondent in an interview that Bello was tactically arrested by detectives, contrary to the reports in some quarters that he drove himself to the EFCC.

Fresh charges were preferred against the former governor, before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama in Abuja.

The matter, heard on November 14 by the court, was adjourned till today (November 27) when counsel to the EFCC sought an adjournment in the fresh case it instituted against Bello.
