Kano Govt to Deals with Tricyclists Defaulting Environmental Sanitation — Commissioner

The Kano state government says it will seriously dealt with tricycle operators defaulting monthly environmental sanitation laws in the state.

The state commissioner for environment and climate change Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo stated this shortly after inspecting saturday monthly environmental sanitation supervision held in Kano.

He said tricycle operators in the state remained part of the society defaulting sanitation laws, the development with worries all stakeholders in the environment sector in the state.

“If tricycle operators thinks that this small fines would not stop them from violating this exercise laws, then I assure them we will come-up with ways that will force them to abide by it,” said Nasiru Garo.

“We are happy on how people in the state are obeying government directives, however is not just for people to stay at home but should participate fully in cleaning their environment,” said commissioner.

On the issue of hip of refuse along Abubakar Rimi market AKA sabon gari market in Fagge local government area, the commissioner said “the hip of refuse that litted around in Kano metropolis is a thing in the past, this refuse that you see around the market is usual thing, as you are evacuation it, you will see another once, however this ministry of environment and climate change together with Kano state Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) we are working tirelessly to ensure all the refuse is cleared as it was cleared on the instruction of Kano state governor engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf,” said Garo.

The commissioner advised members of the public to take precautionary measures especially those using firewoods to always clear it or turn-off sockets after use of electrical appliances.

During the exercise, 52 defaulters were arrested by mobile court attached to the state central sanitation committee and fined them the sum of N73,500.
