The African Institute of Waste Management and Environment Studies (AIWMES) has awarded the Kano state commissioner for environment and climate change Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo, director public relations and enlightenment DPE, Kano state ministry of environment and climate change Alhaji Ismail Garba Gwammaja for their commitment in fighting environmental challenges for sustainable ecosystem.
AIWMES also awarded the speaker, Kano state house of assembly KNHA, the assembly’s chairman committee on environment and member representing Takai, Hon. Musa Ali Kachako, members of the committee, an associate professor Garba Sale Ahmad, Dr. Halima Abdulkadir Idris of department of environmental studies, Bayero University Kano among others for their contribution to different aspect of environment in Kano state.
The chief executive officer of institute Dr. Suleiman Tanko in an interview with journalist said the awardees were carefully selected from policy and law markers, academia, environmentalist among others aimed at encouraging them in the fight against environmental challenges in Kano state.

“We have been doing this programs in Abuja, and you know Kano is very important in terms of environmental issues, so we fill like Kano should be on the forefront, that why we are here in Kano to work with stakeholders and encourage people working towards better, healthy and habitable environment,” said Suleiman Tanko.
In a remark, the commissioner for environment and climate change Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo appreciate the for finding him worsey, noting that it was in lined the the current administration of Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The commissioner assured that his ministry with the support of Kano state government will soon come of with a policy on environments with a view to tackle all environmental challenges in the state.
“We will continue to work with relevant bodies especially this institute and all partners to have better environment for all in Kano,” added Garo.
