Kebbi Merges 8 Major MDAs Into Geospatial Data System

The Kebbi State Government, says eight Ministries, Departments and Agencies are to be integrated into the geospatial data system through the Geo-reference Infrastructure and Demographic Data for Development (GRID3) initiative.

The Project Manager Kebbi Geographic Information Service Agency (KEBGIS), Surveyor Sa’idu Bashir Bakuwai disclosed this in an interview with journalist in Birnin Kebbi.

Bakuwai said a five day workshop was recently organised by the Agency in collaboration with the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) towards enhancing the utilization of computer and internet to support present and future generations by uploading state-specific geospatial data to the GRID3 portal.

Surveyor Bashiru-Bakuwai, told journalist that, the Ministries to be integrated are Lands and Housing, Education, Health, Agriculture, Water Resources, Environment, Physical Planning, Women Affairs, and the KEBGIS.

While commending the State Ministry of Lands and Housing for its support to the agency, Surveyor Bakuwai, emphasized that the staff of the MDAs involved were trained on new data acquisition methods to streamline government activities requiring data management.

The Project Manager, while thanking the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) for selecting Kebbi State as beneficiary and also donating computers, data items and a 12-month internet subscription valued at ₦540,000, to support the initiative, assured the Kebbi state government readiness to collaborate with the agency towards promoting effective governance.
