The director of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Chris Wray will step resign his appointment early 2025.
He will step down for Donald Trump nominee Kash Patel.
Reuters news agency report that Patel has pledged sweeping reforms, including shutting down the D.C. headquarters and refocusing FBI operations.

Wray, appointed by Trump in 2017, faced backlash after the FBI searched Trump’s Florida home in 2022.
He defended his tenure as impartial, but Republicans accused the bureau of political bias.
Patel’s nomination will require Senate confirmation before he can take charge.
