RUMFOBA Class ’94 Celebrates 30th Anniversary, Urges Kano Govt. to Create Database Centres for Communities

The Rumfa College Old Boys Association (RUMFOBA) has urged Kano state government to create Database centre across each community so as to have Data for each households cross the state.

The chairman of RUMFOBA Class ’94 Professor Ibrahim Sani Madugu disclosed this while briefing journalist at Union’s 30th anniversary held in Kano on Thursday.

According to him, the idea is for the state government to use the Data for planning, decisions, projects implementation as well as ensuring of security of lives and properties of Kano residents.

He said the class chapter has set aside two major project to undertake so as to support their alma-mata.

“We initially agreed on two important projects which are ensuring the availability of water to major areas in the college and installation of a CCTV surveillance system,” said chairman.

He said after consultation with the Principal, he presented them with their most pressing demands which include solar based security lights to most vulnerable areas such as the NCC computer centre, Admin/block, laboratories and so on, carpets at the school mosques, replacement of the 2 dead solar batteries that are in the Principal’s office used for printing and lightening the offices, Payment of owed 6 months allowance of the 4 security personnel.

“We must therefore use this opportunity to recommended to the Kano state government that it should create database centres across each community under the office of the Quarters Head (Mai Unguwa) to have details of each household in their dockets, create community based organisations must be created to strengthened community security, schools, small scale industries and trades,” said Engineer.

Some executive members of the Union including Engineer Mustapha Rabiu Zango, assistant head of Engineering department, Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM Kano.

“Since electricity is among the first article of the modern way of life, I call on my dear Kano state government to allow investors to invest into the already functional Kano electricity project using the available renewable energy sources like solar. We must commend the Kano state government for establishing the Kano Hydro Electricity Development Company (KHEDCO) and the power stations at Tiga and Karaye dams, and We must enlighten the populace on the imminent climate change and its threats I am currently leading a research team at Kampala International University on the new contentious area of research in Solar Radiation Modification (SRM). The SRM continue to divide opinion even among scientists that the European Union (EU) decided not allow trials on its member states. However through the Horizon Europe SRM governance research funding is contemplated,” he added.

In a remark, the Kano state commissioner for Science, Technology and innovation Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar-mata commended the Union for their commitment to educational sector in the state.

Kofar-mata then advised the Union to ensure successful implementation of single project at a given year, stressing that all other challenges bedevilling the school should be communicated to the state government for necessary attentions.

During the anniversary four people including former governor of Kano state who is the former principal of the college Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the former commissioner for Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Daguwa who was now commissioner for Water Resource and Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar-mata were awarded for their commitment to support Rumfa collage and educational sector in the state.
