Work as Team for Effective Waste Management, New Kano Environment Commissioner Tells REMASAB

In his first visit as commissioner, the new Kano state commissioner for environment and climate change Dr. Dahiru Muhammad Hashim has urged the management staff of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) to work as a team for effective waste management.

Dr. Dahiru Hashim disclosed this a day after he was sworn in as commissioner.

In a statement by director public relations and englightenment of the ministry Ismail Garba Gwammaja, Hashim said he was at the REMASAB just to ascertain the real situation and chart a way forward with the management staff to fine-tune efficient and effective modern strategies on how best to make our state clean and tidy inline with global best practice.

“Dr. Hashim however, highlighted that the present administration is keen and desirous to the environment sector general in view of its uniqueness nature and direct link to the teeming populace as well as day today activities, hence the need for concerted efforts to give the sector a holistic approach”, he emphasized.

He assured the board of government commitment to procure additional tools within a short period of time with a view to enhance operational activities of the board across the state.

Dwelling on the issues of non payment of outstanding allowances of casual staff raised by the management staff of the board, the Commissioner pledged to investigate the lingering issue with a view to finding lasting solutions.

Conducting the Commissioner round to the plants and equipment within the premises of the board, the Deputy Managing Director of the board Alhaji Lamin Muktar Hassan, expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s first visit to the board, to see things by himself and solicited for government quick intervention to address some of the pressing bottleneck issues bedeviling the smooth operation of the board.
