The South Korea’s president Yoon Suk Yeol impeached by the national assembly has been arrested.
Yoon Suk Yeol accused of insurrection for briefly imposing martial law in a move swiftly overturned by the country’s national assembly has course political instability.
Yoon was detained by anti-corruption investigators on January 15, 2025.

This development comes after a standoff between investigators and the Presidential Security Service on January 3, 2025, which prevented the execution of a warrant for Yoon’s arrest.
The Constitutional Court of Korea held its first formal hearings on Yoon’s impeachment on January 14, 2025.
His arrest make Yoon the first South Korean president to be arrested while still in office.
