Kano Governor, Yusuf Mourns General Jeremiah Useni

The Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Plateau State, as well as the family of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, over his passing.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, it was announced that General Useni passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 82, after battling a protracted illness.

Governor Yusuf described the demise of General Useni as a monumental loss, not only to his family but also to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and the nation as a whole.

He lauded General Useni’s legacy of distinguished service, unwavering patriotism, and his profound contributions to Nigeria’s security and governance.

The Governor further emphasized the former minister’s relentless dedication to fostering peace and security, particularly in Northern Nigeria and his home state of Plateau.

He noted that General Useni’s exemplary leadership and selfless commitment to the nation will remain etched in the hearts of Nigerians.

“Lt. General Jeremiah Useni was a true patriot whose life was defined by service, courage, and an enduring commitment to the betterment of Nigeria.

“His tireless efforts to promote harmony and progress will continue to inspire generations to come,” Governor Yusuf said.

Governor Yusuf prayed for the repose of General Useni’s soul and urged his family and the people of Plateau State to find solace in the remarkable legacy of a life well-lived in service to God, country, and humanity.
