President Tinubu Appoints Ganduje, Gawuna, Others to Head FG Boards of Parastatals

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of chairpersons for 42 federal organizations, alongside key executives for various institutions.

The appointments were announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the statement, Dr. Kayode Isiak Opeifa has been appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, while Raji Kazeem Kolawole will serve as Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).

Additionally, Major General Jubril Abdulmalik (Rtd) was named Secretary of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board.

The President clarified that the roles of the newly appointed board chairpersons are non-executive, emphasizing that they are to provide policy guidance and oversight without interfering in the daily management of their respective organizations.

“The board chairpersons must focus on policy guidance and oversight, leaving operational management to the executives,” Onanuga quoted the President.

Notable appointees include:

Hon. Hillard Eta as Chairman of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi as Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Governor of Kano State, as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

Nasiru Gawuna as Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

Other appointments include:

Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar for the National Inland Waterways Authority

Sen. Magnus Abe for the National Agency for the Great Green Wall.

Chief Edward Omo-Erewa for the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency

These appointments underscore the President’s effort to strengthen federal institutions by placing experienced individuals in key leadership positions.
