Kano Committed to Supporting Victims of Spinal Cord Injuries, Special Needs — Waiya

The Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting people with special needs, particularly victims of spinal cord injuries, to improve their living standards.

Comrade Waiya made this statement during the distribution of essential materials to spinal cord injury victims, organized by the Spinal Cord Injuries Association in collaboration with the MacArthur Foundation.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner emphasized the need for special assistance to alleviate the hardships faced by spinal cord injury victims and their families.

In a statement by director special duties, Kano state ministry of information and internal affairs Sani Abba Yola said Waiya assured that the Kano State Government would continue exploring ways to enhance their well-being.

The Commissioner announced that the government would collaborate with the association to provide training in ICT and other fields to equip victims with skills and knowledge that will empower them and improve their quality of life.

The event, designed to create opportunities for spinal cord injury victims, featured the Commissioner presenting some of the donated materials.

Comrade Waiya commended the families of the victims for their dedication and resilience in caring for their loved ones.

He assured them that the Kano State Government remains committed to providing continuous support to ease their challenges.

Representatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) advised attendees on drug abuse prevention and precautionary measures, such as obeying traffic laws, to reduce accidents—one of the leading causes of spinal cord injuries.
